Extraordinary Friday is where I spotlight women doing awesome things in the community. I want to highlight ordinary women achievements to encourage women to extraordinary women. They can be teachers, business owners, or volunteers.

I am super excited about today's Guest Extraordinary Woman. When I started this segment, I knew I had to spotlight her for Extraordinary Friday. She is an amazing woman. She helped me transition into my phase to becoming a published author and she continues to inspire me to take it to the next level in my career. I am honored to introduced Assaunta Howard.

Let’s meet our Extraordinary Woman…

JH: What makes you an Extraordinary Woman?

AH: “When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and your discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”

~ Patanjali

This quote signifies who I am and what I stand for. I am inspired by everyone I come in contact with. My purpose is to simplify, educate, motivate, and be the driving forces in helping people accomplish their goals; personal and business.

JH: Tell me more about your organization/business?

AH:  Asta Publications provides self-publishing services to authors. It is more than a publishing company… the ultimate purpose is to inspire our authors to become entrepreneurs… establish their own companies. We provide basic editing, cover design, interior layout, eBook conversions, marketing and promotions, and educational seminars.

JH: How is your business/organization impacting women’s lives?

AH: I am an example of you can do anything you aspire to be or to do. As a single mother for several years… the journey was not simple, yet I was determined to go to college gets my degrees…I am a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the oldest honor society in the country, raise my children and start my own business. No questions asked… I have “I can do all things… “attitude. I can do all things because I believe.

JH: What made you step out on Faith? What was your aha moment?

AH: I was born with an undying desire to own a business. My aha moment was when my back was against the wall. I started Asta when I moved to Georgia from New York. I ran the business while maintaining a full-time job. I needed to take care of some family business that required that I stay at home. God didn’t give me a choice… it was either I handle my family business or else.

JH: What motivates you or drives you especially when things get a little hectic?

AH: This is what I’ve been called to do, nothing in life is easy. Put a big “H” on your chest and handle it.

JH: In Ephesians 3:20 it states, “God will do exceedingly and abundantly above anything that you can ask or imagine according to the power that is at work within you.” How does this passage apply to you?

AH: God has led my life… even when I decide to take shortcuts… or do what I wish… I could not have asked for a better life. I am blessed, during trials and tribulations, I’ve been pulled through. Everything I have asked for, I have received… now sometimes; I should shut my mouth and be silent and let Him to continue to work His miracles in my life.

JH:What obstacles have you had to overcome? How did you overcome them?

AH: Being a single parent and raising my daughters to become independent women. Remaining diligent, never giving up, and not accepting no for an answer.

JH: How do you handle negativity& negative people?

AH:I don’t. You can control who enters your space. It is important to remember your purpose and stick to the plan.

JH: Extraordinary women usually live very busy lives, how do you handle success? What do you do as your stress reliever? What do you do in your spare time? What is your favorite weekend getaway spot?

AH: Our success is measured by the number of authors and people we have assisted with publishing their books or have started their own publishing companies. We are extremely honored to have been selected by many and are humbled by the experience.

I go to the gym about 3-4 times a week and that helps to keep my mind at ease. I am living a stress free life now and that is because I choose to. I spend a lot of time with family and friends… dining, going to the movies, and shopping. I don’t have a favorite weekend getaway spot… I love to travel and prefer going anywhere there is a beach.
