Become an expert in your industry: 3 Reasons Why Writing is the Key to Exploding Your Personal Brand
You are an expert in your field. No one knows this, because you won’t write down what you know. Yes, I said it. I am calling you out!!! You are sitting on years worth of expertise, and you won’t share what you know with others. You stare at your phone and get made when someone who knows less than you excel on social media.
1. Content is King. If you want to build a personal brand, you need to share content. Content can be in written or visual form. Either way, you need to build up your content. There is no better time to build content than the 21st century. With things like google and youtube, it is easy to get recognize and build a brand. Right now if I google my name Jay L Harris, it will pull content that I have written over the last eight years. It shows that I have an online presence with my brand of Jay L Harris.
2. Expert in your field. In my writing workshops, one of the first things I tell people is writing a book makes you an expert. You know why? You took the time to write down what you know. Writing a book is a daunting task. The fact you had the patience to complete a book makes people admire you. I meet people all the time who have a desire to write a book, and they want to know about the process. If you don’t want to write a book, shit, start with blogging. Nothing builds your confidence on a subject matter better than a blog. You don’t know what you know until you write it down.
3. Gives you leverage. Writing down your expertise allows you to leverage a skill set that you have mastered over the years. What do I mean by this? You can be a guest blogger for someone. You can use your book to secure speaking engagements or be a guest on a podcast. These are more opportunities to spread your wings and get in front of more people.
Writing allows you to tell your story your way and be apart of history. Even after I am dead and gone, my words will live on.
What is the purpose of you building your personal brand if you are not focused on your legacy? Stop overthinking things and write!
